LSU football fans checked in at No. 161 on FanSided’s Fandom 250, a ranking of the top 250 fan bases. Were the Tigers ranked too low?

There are few places in the country that can match the passion and intensity of Tiger Stadium at night. Death Valley, as it’s most often referred to, is an overwhelming atmosphere that makes it one of the toughest venues to play in the country. LSU fans love their football and are known to show up rain or shine, win or lose to passionately support their team.

This intensity boosted Tiger fans to No. 161 in the Fandom 250, FanSided’s annual ranking of the top 250 fan bases from every area of entertainment, sports, brands and beyond.

It wasn’t that long ago that the SEC was considered the greatest conference in college football. That rise to prominence was a culmination of Nick Saban’s ascension and his rivalry with LSU. The Tigers have historically been one of the few teams to give the Tide fits. That’s thanks, in part, to a fanbase that believes they’re going to shock the nation.

Even with a stumble against Troy LSU finished 9-3, second in the SEC West in 2017. A Citrus Bowl win over Notre Dame will give them a 10-win season in coach Ed Orgeron’s first year. That’s a great start and a building block for future successes down the line.

There was never any doubt that LSU fans were passionate. The football team gets it done more often than not and their fans are as intense and active as they come. Do you agree with the Tigers’ ranking in the Fandom 250? Are they too high or too low?
