Boise State and Oregon football will face off in the 2017 edition of the Las Vegas Bowl. Here’s why the Ducks will take down the Broncos.

Oregon (7-5) heads into the 2017 Las Vegas Bowl against Boise State (10-3) looking for its eighth win of the campaign and the first without head coach Willie Taggart who bolted for Florida State.

The Ducks have the talent to take down the Broncos despite the latter winning their conference even after starting the year 2-2. The Ducks, on the other hand, started the season 4-1 before Justin Herbert was knocked out and missed a handful of games. They went just 1-4 in his absence before he returned to close out the season with a 2-0 mark.

Under the new direction of former offensive coordinator Mario Cristobal, will the Ducks be able to beat the 10-win Boise State Broncos in one of the first bowls of the year?

Here’s why Oregon will “upset” Boise State in the 2017 Las Vegas Bowl.

5. Oregon riding high into bowl season

There’s something to be said about a team riding a high heading into bowl season. The Ducks bounced back from a three-game losing streak in the middle of conference play to win three of four to end the year.

Oregon didn’t just win three of four, the Ducks blew out teams like Utah, Arizona and in-state rival Oregon State. They did, however, lose in blowout fashion to Washington, but it’s clear that this team is much better when Justin Herbert is healthy.

Boise State is on a high, too, after starting the season 2-2, but they lost to Fresno State in the regular season finale before beating the Bulldogs in the Mountain West Championship. Sometimes that emotional low to emotional high and then a big break in between can mess with a team, but I think the Ducks feel as if they have more to prove with Willie Taggart leaving.

This team wants to prove to Taggart that he made the wrong choice and win the bowl game comfortably under a new direction.
