Texas A&M football prioritized quality over quantity when they signed their first crop of players during the Early Signing Period.
Texas A&M football had a rather quiet Early Signing Day compared to what could have been with newly hired head coach Jimbo Fisher at the helm in College Station. The Aggies signed eight commits on Dec. 20, and still have six more hard commits left in the 2018 class.
Former head coach Kevin Sumlin did have some recruits that stuck around with the Aggies, but a few decommitted as soon as the news about him leaving was announced. Even without the recruits that left, Texas A&M still has the 18th best class in the nation, and the seventh best in the SEC. And, there’s still a long way to go for Fisher to bring in some of his own recruits.
The amount of four-star and three-star commits were split even among the eight signees. Four-star strong-side defensive end Max Wright is the top-ranked commit in the class, among the early signees. The 19th ranked wide receiver in the nation in the 2018 class, four-star Jalen Preston, is the best overall player among the commits for the Aggies. But, Preston did not take his chance to sign on the first day of the Early Signing Period.
Between the early signees and hard commits Texas A&M has right now, there’s eight four-star recruits. That’s among the best in the nation, and there should be more to come. Five-star wide receiver Terrace Marshall (No. 11 player in the nation) is a huge target that the Aggies would love to add. He plans to commit on Friday.
Here’s three early signees who will make an instant impact for the Texas A&M Aggies in 2018.
