Washington Football: 3 early signees who will make an instant impact
A program that went under the radar on the first day of the Early Signing Period was Washington football, with a top 15 class in the nation.
Washington football spent the time around Early Signing Day, on Dec. 20, preparing for the New Year’s Six Bowl they’ll be playing in this year. The Huskies battle the Penn State Nittany Lions in the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl in what promises to be one of the most entertaining postseason matchups.
However, the Huskies locked up one of the best Early Signing Day classes in the nation as well. UW carries the 11th best recruiting class in the nation, and the best overall in the PAC-12. They signed 18 recruits on Dec. 20. Of those 18 signees, nine were four-star recruits.
Head coach Chris Petersen is establishing a culture in Seattle that is build around success and contention at the top of the PAC-12. He’s proving that the Huskies were not just one year wonder, while making the College Football Playoff in 2016.
This strong recruiting class during the 2018 cycle gives the UW fan base hope that the team will be able to stay in the national picture for years to come. And, the rebuilding job in the secondary that Petersen was able to do this year shows he can take the approach of “reload not rebuild” for the entire squad.
Every single one of the UW commits signed the Letter of Intent. There’s no hard commits left in the class. That’s something very few teams in the country can say from the first early signing period.
Here’s three early signees who will make an instant impact for the Washington Huskies in 2018.
