Wyoming made a bowl game for the second straight season. Last year, Craig Bohl’s team lost the last Poinsettia Bowl held in San Diego to historic rival BYU. This year, the Cowboys will try to score their first win in a bowl game since the 2009 New Mexico Bowl. They are also gunning for a second straight eight-win season.
Meanwhile, Central Michigan claimed a fourth straight ticket into a bowl game. The Chippewas have lost each of their past three trips to the postseason, with their last win in a bowl coming back in 2012. After losing to MAC champion Toledo, CMU won five straight to head into the postseason with strong momentum.
The top two defenses in the country at generating turnovers square off on the Smurf Turf in Boise. Albertsons Stadium has been hosting a bowl game since the 1997 Humanitarian Bowl, and this year marks the beginning of the third decade of postseason play in Idaho.
