Wyoming Football: 5 bold predictions vs Central Michigan in Famous Idaho Potato Bowl
By Zach Bigalke
5. A first-time winner is guaranteed at the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl
Amazingly, considering the game has been around for several decades now, neither Wyoming nor Central Michigan had previously been invited to the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. That includes its earlier incarnations as the Humanitarian Bowl and in its various sponsored guises.
What does that mean? Ol’ Spuddy Buddy up there will get to celebrate with a new friend after the final whistle rings at Albertsons Stadium. That winner will almost certainly be Wyoming, who will have little issue covering the spread against a team that plays great defense but less-than-stellar offense.
Look for the Mountain West to break a streak of two straight losses. Central Michigan will head back to Mount Pleasant without any hardware for their trophy case. And while the Chippewas will get at least one interception, they will find it hard to move the ball against an equally-tough Wyoming defense and could still lose the turnover battle as a result.
The spread currently sets up Wyoming as a three-point favorite going into a significant matchup. The Cowboys have drawn heavy betting, especially when the game was considered a push earlier in the week by oddsmakers.
