Arkansas Football: 3 early signees who’ll make instant impact in 2018
With seven recruits signing their Letter of Intent with Arkansas football in the Early Signing Period, there’s still some work left to do.
Arkansas football needs a good recruiting class to help forget the result of the 2017 campaign. The Razorbacks are off to a good start by hiring former SMU Mustangs head coach Chad Morris, to come to Fayetteville. Morris developed a great offense with SMU and looks to do the same with the Hogs.
That starts with bringing in a good crop of recruits for him to start building a high-powered offense for Arkansas. He’s got a good foundation with rising sophomore quarterback Cole Kelley and a pair of talented running backs in Devwah Whaley and Chase Hayden.
The Early Signing Period was not very eventful at the start for the Hogs. Losing former head coach Bret Bielema did cause five recruits to decommit, in the span of less than a month. But, the Morris hire should attract some new attention, in and of itself.
Arkansas had seven commits sign their Letter of Intent during the first two days of the 2017 Early Signing Period. The Hogs also have four commits either listed as a hard or soft commit. Of the 11 commits right now, two of them are four-star recruits and nine are three-stars.
Three prospects are still high on the Hogs’ radar: Star City offensive tackle Jax Gasaway, Salmen cornerback Eddie Smith, and most importantly Arizona Western Community College defensive tackle Noah Jefferson. The Hogs have a lot of potential left on the recruiting trail.
Here are three early signees that will make an instant impact for the Arkansas Razorbacks in 2018.
