Baylor Football: 3 early signees who will make an instant impact
As one of the Power Five conference programs set to take a major step forward in 2018, Baylor football has a very solid recruiting class so far.
Baylor football put together one of the best classes of any program in the Big 12 during the 2017 Early Signing Period. The first day was huge for the Bears, as they signed 20 recruits, and added one more on Dec. 21. Of the 21 signees in total, 17 are three-star commits, and four are four-star players.
With a good class at hand so far, Baylor rings in at No. 21 nationally and fourth best in the Big 12. A big week for first-year head coach Matt Rhule catapulted the Bears up four spots, past teams like the USC Trojans and Michigan State Spartans. Moreover, the only three Big 12 teams ahead of Baylor in the recruiting rankings are the Texas Longhorns, Oklahoma Sooners and TCU Horned Frogs.
The three teams ahead of the Bears in the recruiting rankings are either blue blood programs or top-25 caliber now. And, with two hard commits to add to the 21 man class of signees, Baylor is tied with the Oklahoma State Cowboys for most commits in any class in the conference, with 23 total.
The highest rated player in Baylor’s class is four-star dual-threat quarterback Gerry Bohanon. He’s the top ranked player in Arizona and the 11th best dual-threat quarterback in the nation. Baylor also has two four-star wide receivers in this class to add to an already potent receiving corps.
Even though Baylor only managed one win in 2017, this class is truly a spectacular job from Rhule. He’s instilling a new culture with this program and the Big 12 will soon notice.
Here’s three early signees who will make an instant impact for the Baylor Bears in 2018.
