Possibly the most surprising pickup for the Bears in this class is the Booker T. Washington product, Tyquan Thornton. The four-star wide receiver from Miami, FL, was plucked from the recruiting territory of teams like the Florida Gators, Miami Hurricanes, and UCF Knights.

It seemed like Thornton was leaning more toward the Gators or Hurricanes, but he went with Big 12 country and Baylor. Seeing how star sophomore wide receiver Denzel Mims fared during a down year, there’s a lot of potential for Thornton with the Bears’ offense.

The Baylor receiving corps is young and has a lot more than just Mims to offer. Pooh Stricklin and Chris Platt should be back and stronger than ever in 2018. Add Thornton to the mix, and you get what promises to be one of the best receiver groups in the conference.

Furthermore, Thornton has a talented and young quarterback in Charlie Brewer that will be targeting him. With sophomore quarterback Zach Smith transferring from the program, Brewer has command of the offense now, and Thornton should be a star.
