Almost a month ago, Texas Tech rallied late to bring home a victory over the Texas Longhorns. The win energized a team who was simply fighting for a bowl game. Now, they will look to carry that fight into the Birmingham Bowl against former Texas coach Charlie Strong, now the head man for the South Florida Bulls. They took down his former team, but can they take down his current one?

On the flip side, South Florida has had quite the season to date. They are 9-2 and in search of their 10th win in a repeat trip to the Birmingham Bowl. However, the fact that they are 9-2 is no fluke and Texas Tech should be ready for quite the battle.

Both teams have capable quarterbacks and weapons on both sides of the ball and will be ready to rumble bright and early Saturday morning, live from Birmingham. Do the Red Raiders have enough gas in the tank to finish the season above .500? I think so. Let’s break down the reasons Tech has a fighting chance at a 7-6 finish on Saturday.
