West Virginia Football: 3 early signees who’ll make instant impact in 2018
The time for West Virginia football to contend for a Big 12 Championship and spot in the College Football Playoff is looming in 2018 with this class.
West Virginia football signed two big recruits during the Early Signing Period in a 2018 class that should be big for the program. The Mountaineers had 19 commits sign their Letter of Intent on the initial day of the 2017 Early Signing Period.
Head coach Dana Holgorsen publicly stated his support for this new system for National Signing Day in the world of college football recruiting. He said that it gives teams like the Mountaineers a chance to lock up some bigger recruits before bigger program have a chance to poach them.
It also allows some commits to enroll in school earlier and focus on getting their college football career started way before their first NCAA game. Both of West Virginia’s four star signees can now turn their attention to Morgantown. Four-star strong side defensive end Dante Stills and four-star safety Kwantel Raines highlight a strong defensive recruiting class for the Mountaineers.
There’s 17 three-star signees that sent in their Letter of Intent for the Mountaineers. Furthermore, Holgorsen has two hard commits that are both three-star recruits. Both of those hard commits are defensive players as well. With how the West Virginia defense fared during the regular season, it’s big for them to add some pieces to the group.
With the 19 early signees, West Virginia ranks 31st in the nation for the 2018 class, and sixth in the Big 12. Three-star linebacker Kevontae’s Ruggs is the biggest target left for the Mountaineers.
Here are the three signees who will make an instant impact for the West Virginia Mountaineers in 2018.
