Texas football heads to Houston to take on the Missouri Tigers in the Academy Sports and Outdoors Bowl Texas Bowl. Here are five predictions for the game.

The Academy Sports and Outdoors Texas Bowl will be played at NRG Stadium in Houston. The Missouri Tigers and the Texas Longhorns will go head to head on the night of December 27. Does Texas have what it takes to shut down the Missouri Tigers? Can Texas overcome off the field distractions to bring home the Texas Bowl trophy?

Here are my five bold predictions for the match up.

5. A thin roster will kill Texas

Earlier this week, Texas announced the suspension of three big time offensive players in Garrett Gray, Lil’Jordan Humphrey and Toneil Carter. This, on top of the players who have decided to sit out the bowl game in preparation for the NFL Draft make for quite the thin roster for the upcoming Texas Bowl.

Defensive tackle Chris Nelson will skip the game with an elbow injury. Left tackle Connor Williams and safety DeShon Elliott announced they are going pro and as a result skipping the bowl game, Running back Chris Warren III has transferred before the bowl. Cornerback Holton Hill is suspended and also going pro. Linebacker Malik Jefferson, will miss the game with “turf toe”, but it is widely accepted that he is protecting his draft status.

That is quite a few missing links. It will be too hard to overcome, costing Texas a victory and a winning season.
