Safety is not the only spot where Louisville is going to have a large amount of turnover on the defensive side of the ball. The Cardinals will also lose the two starting cornerbacks. In total, Louisville loses three corners that got regular playing time in 2017.

Even though former All-American cornerback Jaire Alexander was injured for a good portion of the regular season, he’s going to be missed more than any other player on the defense. Alexander announced he’ll miss the bowl game as well.

However, the good news for Louisville is that there’s a few talented defensive backs that can be injected into the lineup immediately. One of those signed defensive backs is three-star cornerback, and Miami Central product Chandler Jones.

With all the departures in the secondary, there’s going to be some freshmen and sophomores that get some significant playing time. Jones is the next-highest ranked defensive back behind Troutman in this class. He’s the 38th best corner in the nation and 68th best prospect out of Florida.
