Stanford Football: 3 early signees who’ll make an instant impact in 2018
Of the three cornerbacks that the Cardinal has locked up right now, three-star Brookwood High School product Kendall Williamson is the highest-touted. Williamson is the 59th best prospect out of Georgia, and the 54th best cornerback in the nation.
He’s also got the best combination of size and speed of any defensive back that’s signed with Stanford. With a 4.50 40-yard time and a height of 6-foot-1, Williamson will get some time with the Stanford secondary to show what he can do in 2018.
Stanford loses one of its top cornernbacks in senior Alameen Murphy following the Alamo Bowl. In his absence, junior cornerback Quenton Meeks needs to step up. But, some younger defensive backs are going to get their opportunity as well.
However, with 33 total offers, Williamson had a ton of options to chose from. He also held offers from the Auburn Tigers, Michigan State Spartans, Florida Gators, Tennessee Volunteers and Florida State Seminoles. Landing Williamson is a big boost for the future of the Stanford defense.
