UCLA managed to reach bowl eligibility by pulling out a 30-27 victory over Cal on the final weekend of November. The Bruins struggled throughout 2017, dealing with injuries and inexperience. As a result they head to Phoenix for the Cactus Bowl with an interim head coach bridging the gap between Jim Mora’s termination and Chip Kelly’s start as the new leader of the Bruins.
Jedd Fisch gets his moment in the spotlight, and he gets to take on one of the legendary college football coaches. Bill Snyder has once again put out an overachieving Kansas State team. The Wildcats also dealt with injuries at quarterback throughout the season, and they will head to Chase Field with their third-stringer guiding the offense.
