Memphis gets to play on its home turf in the postseason. Here are five bold predictions for the Liberty Bowl showdown between the Tigers and Iowa State.

Memphis took UCF to overtime in the American Athletic Conference championship. A goal-line interception sent the Tigers back home from Orlando as the losing party in the title game. While UCF is headed to the Peach Bowl as the top team from the Group of Five, Memphis was right there with the Knights in terms of talent in 2017.

As a reward for their 10-win season, Memphis now gets to stay home this bowl season. No, they weren’t snubbed by the postseason committees. Rather, they were selected to play on their home turf at the Liberty Bowl.

Their opponents for the bowl game, Iowa State, are back in the postseason for the first time in five years. Matt Campbell’s team may be the Power Five squad in this matchup, but they are the clear underdog as they play what amounts to a true road game.
