5. Brandon Wimbush reaches 300 total yards

I know, I know. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen an inspiring game from Wimbush, but he has a few things going for him despite facing one of the nation’s most efficient defenses. First, Wimbush will come out against the Tigers with over a month of rest. A week of rest benefited Wimbush greatly against USC, a game in which he recorded four total touchdowns.

If that game was any indication, Wimbush is in store for a solid effort against LSU. While the Tigers have done a great job at limiting opponents in the red zone, they have been somewhat generous in the run game. If standout running back Josh Adams can get himself back on track, look for Wimbush to find a little extra running room as well.

While Wimush has found success through the air at points this season, look for the majority of his yards in this game to come on the ground. The Tigers have allowed just over 185 passing yards per game, a stat that doesn’t bode well for a Notre Dame offense that puts up an average of only 176 yards themselves.

After a stretch of poor outings from Wimbush, there’s a feeling around the Notre Dame camp that this will be his game. With the threat of both sophomore Ian Book and commit Phil Jurkovec as potential answers at quarterback, it’s in Wimbush’s best interest to give an A+ effort on New Years Day.
