4. Josh Adams eclipses 150 rushing yards

Much like Notre Dame’s team as a whole, Adams has struggled greatly as of late. After establishing himself as a potential Heisman candidate over the first few weeks of the season, the junior out of Pennsylvania stalled, recording under 50 yards in three of his last four games.

However, Adams has a lot to play for as he is currently considering opting out of his senior year in favor of an NFL career. With his draft stock undoubtedly dropping as of late, his very career as a professional may depend on his success in this game. With that in mind, look for Adams to kick it into a whole other gear when he faces LSU’s defense Monday.

As previously mentioned, the Tigers’ defensive success hasn’t yet manifested itself in the run game. Despite being ranked 16th in points allowed, LSU has allowed just under four yards per carry, good for only 39th in the nation. The Irish have certainly faced tougher defenses this year, so a rebound performance against LSU isn’t entirely out of the picture.

Bumps and bruises are always a problem at the running back position, so an entire month off should do nothing but good for Adams. Also, after posting one of his worst outings against a run defense as poor as Stanford’s, don’t be surprised if Adams surprises in a more positive fashion this week.
