The journey to start building momentum into the beginning of the Jimbo Fisher era with Texas A&M football starts with the Belk Bowl on Dec. 29.

Texas A&M football lands in the 2017 Belk Bowl, at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC, after finishing the regular season with seven wins, again. The Aggies get the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, out of the ACC, as the underdog entering the postseason matchup, by three points.

Both the Aggies and Demon Deacons had seven wins to round out the regular season. That was enough for Texas A&M to fire head coach Kevin Sumlin after the regular season finale loss to the LSU Tigers. Sumlin would be replaced by former Florida State Seminoles head coach Jimbo Fisher in a huge land for the Aggies.

The matchup between two vastly different quarterbacks is something to watch here. Redshirt freshman and former three-star recruit Nick Starkel is developing nicely for the Aggies. Yet, senior Wake Forest quarterback John Wolford put together his best season, by far, during his college career.

If Texas A&M walks away with the win, it would be the fourth consecutive eight win season for the program. The fan base is getting used to expectations for what Sumlin brought to the table. That was a large reason for the hiring of Fisher.

At the same time, Wake Forest would love to bring an eight win campaign back to Winston-Salem. The Demon Deacons had a great season in a great conference. The ACC was strong again this year, having the No. 1 team in the nation right now in the Clemson Tigers.

Texas A&M had a fight for itself in the SEC West as well. That division also has a team in the College Football Playoff in the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Aggies gave the Tide a good fight this year.

Here’s the five bold predictions for the 2017 Belk Bowl between the Texas A&M Aggies and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
