No. 11 Washington football landed a battle with the No. 9 ranked Penn State Nittany Lions in the 2017 PlayStation Fiesta Bowl, in what promises to be a quality matchup. The Nittany Lions and Huskies both matchup very well.

As the two point favorite, Penn State looks to come away with a better result than the Nittany Lions saw in last year’s bowl game. In a matchup with the USC Trojans in the Rose Bowl last year, the Nittany Lions barely fell short against star quarterback Sam Darnold‘s squad on a game-winning field goal.

Meanwhile, UW was knocked out by the Alabama Crimson Tide in the College Football Playoff Seminfinals. Both teams were considered somewhat of a disappointment, as each program could have made a solid push for the Playoff if not for some upset losses.

A confusing road loss to the Arizona State Sun Devils put the Playoff out of reach for the Huskies. Furthermore, Penn State was knocked out of the Playoff in a defeat on a rainy day in East Lansing against the Michigan State Spartans.

But, both teams are locked into one of the five best bowl games in the postseason slate. Two talented, high-powered offenses, and quality defenses make these teams equally matched.

Here’s the five bold predictions for the 2017 PlayStation Fiesta Bowl between the Washington Huskies and Penn State Nittany Lions.
