Washington Football: 5 bold predictions vs. Penn State in Fiesta Bowl
5. Jake Browning has his best game since Week 3
This has not been the season anticipated for junior quarterback Jake Browning, after leading the Huskies to the College Football Playoff in 2016. A large reason why the Huskies did not play in the PAC-12 Championship Game or make the Playoff is the decline of Browning.
The shoulder injury that caused Browning to get surgery in Jan. 2017 could still be bothering him. There looks to be some type of injury that is hampering Browning’s ability to move the ball. His stat line this year is no where near where it was at this point last year.
After a season with 43 touchdown passes, Browning has just 18 touchdown passes and five picks through the end of the regular season. His mistakes have been minimized, but that’s not enough to get the Huskies where they expected to be.
If Browning can put together a solid outing in the Fiesta Bowl, a lot of his faults this year will be forgiven. But, he’ll get a true test from an experienced Penn State defense. This also might be the last game that Browning plays with the Huskies.
