1. A tale of two coaches favors Malzahn’s squad

UCF head coach Scott Frost’s coaching future was up in the air as of a few months ago, setting up a decision that would shape the future of both him and his players. Frost would opt to further his coaching career at Nebraska, a move that understandably left a few of his players confused. While you can’t fault Frost for making the choice that he did, decisions always have consequences.

Gus Malzahn, in his eighth year as an Auburn coach, was also presented with an opportunity to move on from his current scenario. Malzahn, however, turned down a significant offer from Arkansas and decided to return to Auburn instead.

While neither decision is right or wrong, both coaches are sure to see different responses from their respective squads. While both teams will believe that their coach truly wants the best for them, it’s much easier to convey that message when you’re with them for the long haul. Look for Malzahn’s commitment to have a potentially significant impact on his squad out of the gate.
