Alabama football took on Clemson in a rematch of the last two national title games in the Sugar Bowl Monday night. What’d we learn?

The rematch between Alabama and Clemson in the 2018 Sugar Bowl was one of the more anticipated of the season and the Crimson Tide and Tigers didn’t disappoint.

Things were headed for a down-to-the-wirse finish, just like the last two seasons, but the Crimson Tide began to pull away in the third quarter thanks to a couple of big defensive plays.

Kelly Bryant had a tough time overcoming an opportunistic defense and Alabama proved just why it’s been one of the best teams in college football over the past decade. The Crimson Tide exacted revenge over the Tigers on Monday night to force an All-SEC title game.

What’d we learn from the Sugar Bowl matchup between Clemson and Alabama?

3. No one keeps Nick Saban down

Sure, there have been teams to beat Nick Saban two straight times throughout his career, but not for a national title. Last year’s loss in the title game had to have been a shock to the Hall of Fame head coach but he learned from it and made sure it didn’t happen again.

After losing in heartbreaking fashion to Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers a season ago, Saban and the Crimson Tide exacted revenge on Monday night. Avenging that rare loss in the title game was on the minds of just about every player, including starting quarterback Jalen Hurts who has had pictures of the loss as the screensaver on his phone.

If we’ve learned anything from Alabama’s win over Clemson, it’s that no one can keep Saban and the Crimson Tide down. This program is always adjusting and the head coach just knows how to win, even when the odds are stacked against him and his players.
