Georgia is fresh off their first College Football Playoff win in school history. They’ll take on the Alabama Crimson Tide in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta for the right to be called national champions, sorry UCF.
Not only will the Bulldogs prove to be worthy adversaries for the Crimson Tide, they’ll win outright. Here are five reasons that Georgia will upset Alabama in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.
1. Alabama is mortal
Alabama hasn’t finished a season undefeated since 2009. Since then the Tide have won three championships, but the unbeatability of Alabama has been questioned. This year it was Auburn that shut the Alabama offense down completely and found just enough offense to comfortably pull away for the win. Why can’t Georgia employ a similar strategy?
Then there are the injuries. Linebacker Anfernee Jennings injured his knee against Clemson and will miss the championship game. He joins fellow linebackers Dylan Moses and Shaun Dion Hamilton who will also be missing the game after suffering significant injuries earlier in the season. Clemson lacked the weapons on offense to take advantage of Alabama’s depth issues. Georgia will be ready and waiting.
