College football’s National Championship week is upon us. Here are the five narratives heading into the national title game.

Much like the Super Bowl, the College Football Playoff’s national title game has a hype machine to sell tickets, ad buys, and get as many eyes on the product as possible.

For media, the game has a radio alley and even a Facebook interview area to sell their Facebook Live product. The ESPN talking head shows, the game will be shown on the entire platform of ESPN’s network, will be arguing over minutia just shy of who has the better equipment manager.

The week-long wait between the Jan. 1 playoff games and the Jan. 8 championship game allows for the media to build up the typical narratives they need to keep the game in fans minds and on the radar obsessives and of casual fans alike.

The narratives are thick in the 2018 edition. From both teams being from the southeastern region of the United States, to the type of offense that Georgia runs, down to the fact that Kirby Smart is a limb off the Nick Saban coaching tree.

Underneath the hype is the fact that the Bulldogs are the S&P+’s second best team in 2017, while the Crimson Tide are Bill C’s third best per his unique analytics. Behind the controversy of two SEC teams facing off, they are considered two of the top three teams in the country pre not only Las Vegas but Bill C as well.

Let’s take a look at the five main narratives heading into the College Football Playoff National Championship between the Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide.
