Big Ten football is full of a great coaches, but is there a clear-cut favorite above the rest? Here’s how they rank from top to bottom.

There are many great coaches in the land of college football. Of all the greats fans are currently getting to witness, many of the best in the business reside in the Big Ten. While Nick Saban and Alabama may be the clear-cut favorite over the rest of the college football world, competitive conferences like the Big Ten have short leashes when it comes to mediocrity.

So far, in the aftermath of the 2017 season, the coaching carousel has been busy, yet the Big Ten has stayed relatively still. The main reason for this being that just a year ago the conference welcomed in many new faces, such as Purdue coach Jeff Brohm and Indiana’s Tom Allen.

It is hard to measure some of the new faces of the conference and their ability to fit in with the rest of the top dogs in the league, but after 2017 it is evident that some programs are heading in a different direction than others.

Like most rankings, an elaborate set of criteria is established in order to differentiate the participants. In this set, the following elements of in-game coaching, recruiting, and overall success is evaluated- giving us a full set of power rankings for Big Ten coaches heading into the new year. And remember, power rankings are always subject to change.

For objectivity, recruiting classes will be analyzed using the database 247 Sports.
