Racking up more than eight wins is the primary goal for Texas A&M football in 2018, in Jimbo Fisher’s first year as head coach.

Texas A&M football ended the 2017 campaign on a low note, losing to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in the Belk Bowl, at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. However, the Aggies did make a big splash at the end of the regular season that could change the fortunes of the program for years to come.

It looked like the Aggies were destined for the fourth consecutive eight win season in 2017 under former head coach Kevin Sumlin. But, Wake Forest had other ideas, as Texas A&M fans witnessed one of the biggest offensive showings of the postseason in the Aggies 55-52 loss in their bowl game.

That loss to the Demon Deacons in the Belk Bowl was not the only heartbreaking defeat for the Aggies in 2017. The season opening loss to star quarterback Josh Rosen and the UCLA Bruins stung quite a bit for Sumlin and Texas A&M fans.

However, Texas A&M football has a new look entering the 2018 campaign, with a young quarterback and new head coach. Former Florida State Seminoles head coach Jimbo Fisher joins the Aggies on a 10-year contract, worth $75 million.

The Aggies lost five of the final seven games of the year, a similar theme to what they’ve seen the past four years. Texas A&M gets off to a lot of hot starts, just to see it all come crashing down to end the regular season. A win in the Belk Bowl would have helped, but that was to no avail.

Here’s three ways the Texas A&M Aggies can improve from 2017, entering 2018.
