Auburn football won the SEC West in 2017 and narrowly missed a berth in the College Football Playoff. What will the Tigers look like in 2018?

In 2017 the Tigers beat both of their rivals, Alabama and Georgia. That would normally make for a successful season and for the most part it was – until the Tigers fell to the Bulldogs in the SEC Championship game and had to watch that same Georgia team play Alabama for the National Championship a few weeks later.

Those landmark wins came at the back end of a up-and-down season for the Tigers. Only at Auburn can a head coach go from the hot seat to a play-in game for the College Football Playoff. That’s the roller coaster that head coach Gus Malzahn endured in 2017. The turmoil was nearly enough for Malzahn to move on from the Tigers. Auburn beat a lucrative contract from Arkansas to keep their head coach before losing their final game to Central Florida.

The stakes will always be sky-high at Auburn. Their own fanbase won’t allow a rebuilding year and the roster continues to overflow with high-end talent. The 2018 season promises to be a wild one for the Tigers once again. They’ll have to replace a handful of key pieces on both sides of the ball but get quarterback Jarrett Stidham back for another season.

Here are five bold predictions for Auburn in 2018.
