The aftermath of the College Football Playoff National Championship is upon us. Here are five big stories following the Crimson Tide’s fifth title under Nick Saban.

The Alabama Crimson Tide won their fifth national championship under Saban. Since the College Football Playoff ended in overtime on Jan. 8, 2018, there’s been a domino effect in the aftermath of Saban owning college football. That includes coaching moves, players declaring for the NFL Draft, and the passing of legendary broadcaster Keith Jackson.

The topic of today’s 5th Quarter and “Film Don’t Lie” YouTube show episode is the aftermath after our College Football Playoff National Championship Game. The courtship of Matt Rhule, Baylor’s head football coach, to the NFL’s Colts only thirteen months after coming to Waco, Texas; or the NFL adopting the ways of college football by looking into Rhule or Mark Helfrich signing on to be the Chicago Bears’ offensive coordinator.

The retread hiring of football at all levels is mundane. Think about how many high school, college, and NFL coaches fail and fail again but always seem to get another shot while assistants and coordinators don’t seem to catch a break. For every Sean McVay there’s Herm Edwards, Jon Gruden and Rich Rodriguez getting hired again and again for head coaching positions. There’s also the players who choose to leave early for the NFL Draft or stay in school and the controversy of Khalil Tate.

Here are my top five topics in the wake of the end of the 2017-2018 college football season.
