The recruiting battle for the services of Rashan Gary went down to the wire, as Michigan and Clemson gave it their all for the services of the 300-pound defensive tackle.

Gary, a native of New Jersey, elected to go with the Wolverines, as the Tigers “settled” for Dexter Lawrence, who was ranked right behind him that year.

Upon his arrival in Ann Arbor, Gary has become a mainstay along the line for head coach Jim Harbaugh. As a true freshman, he played in 12 games and recorded 23 tackles, with five being for loss and a half-a-sack.

Gary showed his incredible growth this past season, making 58 stops in 13 games with 11.5 being for loss and 5.5 sacks.

In a bit of an interesting turn, Michigan now also has the third-ranked recruit from 2016 in quarterback Shea Patterson, who is transferring from Ole Miss.
