Ohio State looks to return to the College Football Playoff in 2018. Some of their newest recruits can help them in their quest.

Ohio State is coming off a 12-2 season with a Big Ten championship and a domination of USC in the Cotton Bowl. The Buckeyes fell short of a playoff spot in 2017, however in 2018 they will be a top playoff contender once again.

Per 247 Sports, Ohio State currently sits with the top recruiting class in the Big Ten and the number two class in the nation, behind only Georgia. The Buckeyes signed 21 players during the early signing period in December. While their ranking may change some in February, the Buckeyes are practically assured a top five class.

Head coach Urban Meyer is luring plenty of elite talent to Columbus. Now it is time to look at which of the new recruits can make an instant impact once they hit campus.

5. Antwuan Jackson, 4-star DT

Defensive tackle Antwuan Jackson took the long way to land in Columbus. He is a former four-star recruit out of a Georgia.

Jackson originally signed with Auburn in their 2016 class and red shirted the same year. He decided to transfer, however the Tigers blocked him from transferring to the Buckeyes. He decided to spend a year at Blinn Community College in Texas. After being ranked the third overall JUCO recruit in the nation, Jackson signed with the Buckeyes during the early signing period.

At Blinn, Jackson played in two games, recording seven and a half tackles and three sacks. With several departures along the defensive line, Jackson can instantly gain playing time. The Buckeyes are still deep along the defensive line, but Jackson has experience and talent to get quality reps this season.
