3. Taron Vincent, 5-star DT

It is an embarrassment of riches for defensive line coach Larry Johnson Sr. The Buckeyes lose a lot along the defensive front, but they will just reload. One of Johnson’s new guys is defensive tackle Taron Vincent.

Vincent is another five-star recruit for the Buckeyes and ranked No. 1 in the nation at the defensive tackle position. Weighing in at 285 pounds and standing at 6-foot-2, he is an elite player that will add to the history of the Buckeyes success along the defensive front four.

A guy like Vincent is a huge prize for Urban Meyer. Being from Florida, it seemed more likely Vincent would stay in the south. However he developed a great relationship with Meyer and Johnson which ultimately pushed him to Columbus.

Now the relationship could pay dividends. While the defensive line is loaded overall, it is a little less crowded along the interior where Vincent can make an impact. He has a strong push and his size would command double teams from opposing offensive lines. Once he hits the weight room and bulks up, he could be a force to be reckoned with in the Big Ten.
