Ohio State Football: Way-too-early game-by-game predictions for 2018
Gone is Kenny Hill and that leaves Gary Patterson and TCU in an interesting position. Will the Horned Frogs find a way to replace the Texas A&M transfer who turned into a solid starter or will they crumble into mediocrity for a season before figuring it out?
This matchup with Ohio State will be telling for soon-to-be sophomore quarterback Shawn Robinson who will likely be named the starter in 2018. He was a four-star dual-threat quarterback in the Horned Frogs’ 2017 class who passed for 184 yards and three scores and rushed for another 159. He could be a problem for the Ohio State defense which will see its first dual-threat in Week 3.
Ohio State will find a way to contain him as this will be the biggest game of his young career and he’ll feel the bright lights shining on him. He’ll still open some eyes with highlight throws and impressive runs every so often, but the Buckeyes will keep him under locks for most of the game.
The Horned Frogs had a solid run defense in 2017 and that’ll continue in 2018 as they will be the first team to contain JK Dobbins and Mike Weber. Dwayne Haskins will find a way to hurt the Horned Frogs on the ground, though, and he’ll throw for over 200 yards and three scores.
Final Score: Ohio State 34, TCU 24 (3-0)
