With the departure of big names like Christian Kirk and Armani Watts, there is room for a new batch of stars. Who will break out for the Aggies in 2018?
Texas A&M saw quite a few upperclassmen graduate or declare early in 2017. Among those are star wide out Christian Kirk , defensive linemen like Jarrett Johnson and Zaycoven Henderson and safety Armani Watts. The biggest question surrounding the Aggie football program, now under the leadership of Jimbo Fisher, is who will step up and be the next big name Aggie. Two years ago it was Myles Garrett. This season it was Watts and Kirk.
This team had quite a few freshman and sophomores in starting positions in the 2017 campaign. While the season may not have ended out the way they wanted, a lot of guys showed promise and poise. With the help of new coaches and a change in culture, the Aggies could very easily be a national title contender in the years to come. Though before we get to the guys who could break out, we must discuss Aggieland’s favorite super senior.
Many players had a huge choice in front of them of whether to stay or leave. It would seem that linebacker Cullen Gillaspia didn’t have much of one. Texas A&M will need him in the coming year as he gets the crowd excited, the team unified and always has a smile. Now, the question is, who will join Gillaspia in a leadership role in 2018.
The Aggies have quite a few young guns. Here are a few I think will have a break out year in the season to come.
