3. Herb Hand to Texas

Herb Hand is headed to Texas to serve as offensive line coach and co-offensive coordinator alongside Tim Beck. Hand is a long time offensive line coach around college football. He started off his career at West Virginia Wesleyan back in 1991 before hooking up with Rich Rodriguez at Glenville State where Rodriguez was the head coach.

Hand then followed Rodriguez to Clemson, where he served as a graduate assistant, while Rodriguez was the offensive coordinator under Tommy Bowden. He followed Rodriguez to West Virginia, and parted ways to serve under Gus Malzahn at Tulsa. Hand then went to work for James Franklin at Vanderbilt and Penn State before leaving for Auburn to work for Malzahn again, and now for Tom Herman at Texas.

The veteran coach’s career has spanned working with some of the biggest names in college football in Herman, Malzahn, Franklin, Bowden and Rodriguez. He’s a trusted offensive line coach and run game mind. He will be working alongside quarterback coach Tim Beck, who will handle more of the passing game duties in Austin, Texas. Hand is also known for his social media presence (@CoachHand) where he has 38K followers and has appeared on the podcast The Solid Verbal in May of 2011 and January of 2012.

Coach Hand was also a contestant on the cooking show Chopped back in 2014. Herman likes to hire relatable coaches that can connect with their student-athletes and Hand is that type of coach.
