Penn State Football: Way too early game-by-game predictions for 2018
By Shane Lunnen
Let me start out by saying, I have nothing against Kent State. But when thinking about their recent history, a dumpster fire should come to mind. After going 2-9 last season with only one win against a FBS school, Kent State mercifully fired head coach Paul Haynes. His record in five years was a painful 14-45 and the Golden Flashes finished no higher than 5th in the MAC East. Now the Golden Flashes have hired former Syracuse offensive coordinator Sean Lewis to lead them back out of the MAC basement.
Lewis is an offensive mind and he’s taking over a team finishing at the bottom of the conference in several offensive categories. Former Syracuse running back Jo-El Shaw will be following Lewis to Kent State. It will take some time, but perhaps Lewis can turn the Golden Flashes around.
It certainly will not be against Penn State. This will be the last non-conference game for the Nittany Lions before they begin conference play and it will be over quickly. Quarterback Trace McSorley will light up the Kent State secondary for four touchdowns before sitting out most of the second half. Miles Sanders will also chip in a couple of scores on the ground and the Golden Flashes will be waving the white flag.
