3. Isaiahh Loudermilk, DE (So.)

There is not much to say about Loudermilk’s 2017 season as he was injured almost the entire year. Playing in limited action, Loudermilk recorded gameplay in all but three games. The coaching staff thought it would be best not to force him with the depth they had up front.

Loudermilk recorded double digit tackles and two sacks last year in a crowded defensive line unit. With senior defensive ends Chikwe Obasih and Alec James departing, there is a good chance Loudermilk could take one of their places in 2018 as a sophomore. With quickness and agility, Loudermilk has the tools to possibly play at the linebacker position, but his strength, build-up and push up front allows him to create havoc in the pocket for opposing quarterbacks.

An interesting note about Loudermilk is that when he arrived to Madison he experienced a culture shock that set him back a bit. He was not eating or sleeping and just felt out of place. Most people in that position would keel over and give up, but when Obasih, the starting defensive end, began the season injured- Loudermilk stepped in as a freshman and recorded his first career sack against Utah State in the opener.

Loudermilk’s work ethic and determination to get where he is now is the definition of the type of players head coach Paul Chryst and his staff want playing for their team and if his perseverance off the field stays anything about his attitude on, the Badgers are going to enjoy his play in 2018.
