The No. 1 name on the board for Stanford is 4-star inside linebacker Dax Hollified from Shelby, NC. Beyond the depth need that the Cardinal have at the position, Hollified looks to have the potential to see meaningful playing time immediately. He’s also going to be the toughest of the remaining targets to get to campus.

Hollifield is the No. 5 inside linebacker in the nation and understandably highly sought after. The U.S. Army All-American has three real contenders still in the hunt for his services: North Carolina, Virginia Tech and Stanford.

Stanford wasn’t able to get Hollifield to take a visit until mid-November of last season. However, he followed up that unofficial visit with an official visit to Stanford on Jan. 12. Now, more than three months from his official visits to UNC and Virginia Tech, coach Shaw has to feel reasonably well about his chances of plucking the stud linebacker from the other side of the country.

Hollifield would be Stanford’s highest ranked player in the 2018 class were he to sign with the Cardinal. With so much still up in the air before National Signing Day this will be the toughest guy to lock down, but as for now, he the Cardinal have as good a chance to sign him as either of his other top options.
