Missouri Football: 5 reasons Drew Lock is SEC’s best QB
By Shelbie Warr
2. Six-game winning streaks don’t happen by accident
It is no secret that Missouri was the bottom of the barrel in the SEC at the start of the season. They started 1-5 in what looked to be another disappointing season in Columbia. However, Drew Lock and company had other ideas. They won six straight making them bowl eligible, something no one expected from the Tigers. Missouri became the first team since 1976 to have a five game losing streak and winning streak within one season.
Much has been said about his leadership and his talent. Both were put on display over the Tigers six game win streak. Look at those numbers he put up in the win streak. Lock threw 26 touchdown passes in six games. The team averaged 51 points a game. This team, led by Lock, made a decision to win and they carried that decision out ten-fold. There was no second guessing, no questions.
“I think it was just the resilience from our coaches,” Lock said in an interview after their fifth straight. “Don’t worry about the past, push on. Work on being 1-0 this week and I think we did that pretty good the second half of the season.”
