1. Drew Lock is humble, something many college football players aren’t

This one has nothing to do with talent, but everything to with on field result. From a young age, Lock has questioned if he was good enough or not to play at the college level. He thought himself as good, but not great. However, what separates good quarterbacks from great quarterbacks isn’t talent. It’s not a number of touchdown passes or a number of yards. It is a level of humility and a willingness to learn. Lock has both.

Elite 11 coach Trent Dilfer has been impressed with Lock for a long time, but when that was shared with Drew he wasn’t sure that he really belonged within the Elite 11 program.

“I’m not one to think super big of myself, so when they told me that, I was like yeah, I think I can do that,” Lock recalls in an interview with Zou Nation. “From that day on, I thought if they can see it in me, then I should see it in me.”

That quote should tell you all you need to know about Drew Lock. A kid who “isn’t big on himself” has become one of, if not the, SEC’s best. He achieved that through hard work, determination and a willingness to learn. He focuses on what is best for the team instead of just himself. That is what makes a great quarterback.
