11. Barry Odom and Missouri

Barry Odom and the Tigers are quite an interesting conversation to have. Under head coach Gary Pinkel, Missouri was an extremely prosperous program. Pinkel was at Missouri for 14 years and in that time became the winningest head coach in the school’s history. He brought the Tigers back to back SEC East titles in 2013 and 2014.

However, since he left, the Tigers program has been less than exciting. This season brought with it a six game winning streak after the team started 0-5. The question now stands, how much of that is because of the quarterback play of Drew Lock and how much is the coaching of Odom?

Lock is arguably one of, if not the best, quarterbacks in the SEC right now. He is strong, consistent and confident. Many would argue that under the direction of another coach, he would be playing in a national championship. We will never know if that is true or not though.

What we do know is that Odom has one more year to ride Drew Lock’s coat tails before he has to start putting his money where his mouth is as the field will be filled with mostly kids that he recruited to Missouri as opposed to there still being a few that came under Pinkel. The thought of Drew Lock being the majority of the reason for his “success” lands him at number 11.
