8. Ed Orgeron and LSU

When I think LSU, Ed Orgeron and his accent seem like the perfect fit. However, the question right now stands if Orgeron is the reason for success at Louisiana State or if players recruited by Les Miles are carrying him in the current years, years that haven’t been all that successful in the first place. He spent the 2015 season as the defensive line coach under Les Miles. After Miles was let go following a loss to Auburn, Orgeron took the helm of the program and has been the head coach for a season and a half now.

In 2016, he finished the season out 6-2, 4-2 in conference. This past year, he finished 9-4 which all things considered isn’t a bad number. However, like I said before, my question is how much of his success is Les Miles recruiting?

It will be interesting, in the coming seasons, to see how he shakes out with kids that he recruited on his own. Saying goodbye to Derrius Guice, shown above, will be a big blow to the LSU offense. The kid has natural talent that is just simply not teachable. With most of his super stars gone, Ed Orgeron has plenty of room to move up this power rankings list. For now though, he sits at the middle of the pack.
