7. Mark Stoops and Kentucky

I’m going to catch a lot of slack for this one, I can already tell. However, what Mark Stoops has found a way to do at Kentucky is nothing short of incredible. This is not a football school. Many forget they even have a football program at all when all you hear about is Wildcat Basketball.

He has been at Kentucky for five years now. The first year he got there, this team won two games. He has turned a team that was barely scraping by to a seven win team. Between Stoops and Orgeron, the decision was hard to make of whom to put where, but Stoops turning a program around the way he has is worthy of a top half ranking.

Look at the quarterback he helped Stephen Johnson become. Look at the fight that they put up in their bowl game when star running back Benny Snell, shown above, was unfairly ejected from the game. If you can’t tell by this interview shown above, the kid likes playing football.

This is a team that has a chance to make some noise in the East in the coming seasons, of course teams like Florida and Georgia are standing in the way. It is clear to me that Stoops has instilled a passion for the game in his players and in the kids he recruits. Watch out for the Wildcats, they aren’t going away without a fight.
