SEC Football: Power ranking every coach in the SEC
By Shelbie Warr
6. Will Muschamp and South Carolina.
Muschamp is just on the outside of the top five for good reason. In his two years with the Gamecocks, he has made this a nine win team and he did so without their best offensive player in Deebo Samuel who was injured after two games. Don’t believe that this kid is the Gamecocks best? Look at the numbers in the tweet below. Six touchdowns in two and half games. Two return touchdowns on only two returns. This kid has talent and wheels.
He also has SEC coaching experience as he spent four seasons at Florida before the move to South Carolina. Quarterback Jake Bentley is extremely talented and under the right coaching, which he will get under quarterback coach David Werner who has been called “the quarterback whisperer.” He made Bo Wallace into the Ole Miss quarterback he was, so this was the best thing that could have ever happened to a young quarterback.
With the return of Deebo Samuel and a now experienced quarterback in Jake Bentley, the sky is the limit for Will Muschamp. However, he has yet to prove anything in terms of a national title or a race for one and as a result sits just outside of the top five.
