Texas football should end up with a top-five class on National Signing Day. What players are poised to make an immediate impact during the 2018 season?

Texas head coach Tom Herman had a moderately successful first year in Austin. The Longhorns finished 7-6 with a victory over Missouri in the Texas Bowl. Seven win seasons is not good enough for Texas if they want to return to prominence under Herman.

However considering it was the first winning season since 2013, Mack Brown’s last season, and the program’s first bowl win since 2012, then it was not a bad start.

Texas has a monster 2018 recruiting class. It ranks third currently, first top five class for the Longhorns since 2012 when they ranked second in the nation.  Since this is Herman’s first full class, his fingerprints will be all over it.

Rankings are one thing, but getting guys to step up big as freshman is another. Let us take a look at the players who could make an instant impact this season for the Longhorns.

5. Ryan Bujcevski, 3-star Punter

It will be tough for the Longhorns to replace Ray Guy award winner Michael Dickson, who made an unusual move for a punter and declared early for the NFL draft. Who better to fill in the role than Dickson’s cousin, Ryan Bujcevski.

Maybe the kicking talent runs in the family, but Bujcevski is rated the number one punter in this year’s recruiting class. He hails from Australia and is a former Aussie rules football player. He is also a Prokick Australia alum, a kicking school that has delivered pro punters Jordan Berry of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tom Hackett of the New York Jets.

Tom Herman obviously sees the talent in the kid. Nobody should expect him to pick up right where Dickson left off. But his impact will certainly be felt immediately by being the starting punter right away.
