Auburn had a strong season, highlighted by an Iron Bowl victory and a trip to Atlanta. With so many leaving for the draft, who will lead the charge in 2018?

The Auburn Tigers had quite the season in 2017. They fell just short of a playoff berth after losing to Georgia in the SEC Championship. A lot of key players are leaving for the Tigers. Now, the question is who will step up and lead the 2018 charge.

Let’s talk about the top five players poised for the season of their careers in 2018.

5. Jarrett Stidham, QB

Picking up transfer Jarrett Stidham was quite possibly one of the best things Gus Malzahn has done. In 2017, he was strong and accurate. He showed the ability to evade pressure. He made connections with Auburn receivers and gelled with the team as a whole. Look for him to improve even more in 2018.

Stidham didn’t see field in 2016 as he had to sit out due to transfer rules. In 2017, it seemed as if he didn’t miss a beat. He had surgery on his non throwing shoulder this off season, but the Tigers expect him to be back for spring practice. Look for Stidham to enter the Heisman conversation in 2018 and be the leader the Tigers offense need to be a consistent SEC West threat to Alabama.
