Ohio State Football: Top 5 targets for 2018 National Signing Day
With 2018 National Signing Day approaching, who are the top five remaining recruiting targets for Ohio State football and Urban Meyer?
Ohio State has yet another top-tier recruiting class, but there may not be as much buzz around this year’s National Signing Day haul as in years past.
The Buckeyes have 24 commits already and currently possess the No. 1 recruiting class in college football, according to 247Sports. They’ve landed two commitments in the past couple of weeks to bolster that ranking.
Coming off an impressive season which ended with Big Ten title and Cotton Bowl victories, Ohio State has enough momentum to close the 2018 class on a high note and build another impressive group in 2019.
Who are Ohio State’s top five remaining 2018 National Signing Day targets?
In a surprising new development, Tavion Thomas has been added back to the recruiting board for Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes. The three-star running back from Dayton, Ohio, was committed to Oklahoma until just last week and that pushed Ohio State out to the lead for him.
The Buckeyes’ coaching staff has visited him over the past week and he’s also taking an official visit to Columbus the weekend before National Signing Day. There’s a good chance he will be playing for Meyer next year.
Although this isn’t your typical Ohio State pledge, rated as just a three-star and listed as the No. 407 overall player in the class and 18th-best running back per 247Sports, Thomas is a talented player with a college-ready style and frame. In fact, he stands 6-foot-2 and weighs in at 225 pounds.
Ohio State is the current favorite to land him while Oklahoma and Cincinnati are also in the running.
