UCLA Football: Top 5 remaining targets for 2018 National Signing Day
With 2018 National Signing Day approaching, who are the top five remaining recruiting targets for UCLA football and Chip Kelly?
Chip Kelly is back in the college coaching ranks. The UCLA Bruins offered him the job shortly after letting Jim Mora go and it might just end up bringing them back to contention in the Pac-12.
The real start for Kelly will be National Signing Day when he has an opportunity to bolster an already-impressive class. He’s landed two top recruits in the past week in four-star defensive tackle Tyler Manoa and four-star tight end Matt Alaimo. Will he have more in the tank for NSD?
Who are the Bruins’ top five remaining recruiting targets for National Signing Day?
While UCLA has four receivers committed to its 2018 class with two athletes who could play that position as well, the Bruins would jump at the opportunity to land a talented wide out like Geordon Porter.
The four-star wide receiver from nearby Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., may be a lean to stay in the Pac-12, although the Bruins are major underdogs in his recruitment. The leaders to land the wide receiver are the Arizona State Sun Devils, led by Herm Edwards.
The Bruins shouldn’t hold their breath in this recruitment, but Porter did take a visit to UCLA on Jan. 26, which could give it an advantage. However, there may have been too much ground to make up with teams like Arizona State, Texas A&M and Tennessee.
Porter is ranked the No. 558 overall recruit and 93rd-best wide receiver in the class, according to 247Sports.
