One of the more intriguing in-state battles for a recruit has to be the one between UCLA and USC for top linebacker Solomon Tuliaupupu from Santa Ana.

The four-star linebacker from California is a strong lean to commit to the Trojans on or by National Signing Day, but the Bruins are still technically in the running. He’s also strongly considering Notre Dame and Oklahoma and holds over 30 offers.

Why is this kid so coveted? He’s aggressive, strong and possesses an endless motor. Just watching his film would make you realize just why dozens of teams want his services. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound linebacker almost seamlessly makes his way into the backfield for tackles for loss and his strong frame is tough for opponents to handle.

Could Tuiliaupupu commit to UCLA and surprise everyone?

It’s possible, but not likely. He officially visited UCLA on Jan. 12, but his last official was to USC on Feb. 2. He’s ranked the No. 54 recruit nationally and No. 4 inside linebacker, according to 247Sports. He’s also the state of California’s sixth-best prospect.
