With a 2018 class including 23 prospects already committed for Baylor football, there’s not too much work left to do before National Signing Day.
Baylor football has done one of the better jobs of recruiting, considering the circumstances, than most other Power Five programs in the nation. Head coach Matt Rhule put together a masterful class through his first two National Signing Day runs. The Bears are ready to easily lock up a top 25 class for the 2018 cycle and put themselves in possibly the top three in the Big 12.
The Texas Longhorns, Oklahoma Sooners, and TCU Horned Frogs are the only programs ahead of Baylor in the Big 12 recruiting rankings. And, the West Virginia Mountaineers and Oklahoma State Cowboys are the only two that could possibly jump the Bears on National Signing Day.
However, Baylor does have 23 commits in their class right now. Of those 23 commits, six have enrolled early, 15 signed early, and the other two are listed as hard commits. Baylor also has six four-star recruits in their class.
Rebuilding Baylor is going to take classes like this. The way the Bears showed out in the 2017 season was not the way they wanted to respond after contending for a Big 12 Championship for better part of the previous five years.
It is in the realm of possibility for Baylor to jump into the top 20 classes in the nation this year. While it would take a highly-touted four-star commitment for that to happen, don’t count it out from happening.
With Baylor looking to haul in its best recruiting class since 2014, here’s a look at the 5 most important remaining targets for the Bears before National Signing Day 2018.
